About Brian Schmidt

Brian Schmidt served as the Executive Director of the Missouri General Assembly’s Joint Committee on Tax Policy from 2005 through 2011. During his tenure with the committee, he researched and developed a comprehensive reform of Missouri’s property tax system, led a three year committee review of Missouri’s 61 tax credit programs, worked with administering agencies to better track the fiscal impact of tax credit programs, developed the scoring model that forecasts future revenue collections as a result of a tax policy change used today, and assisted legislators in crafting and analyzing tax and economic development proposals.

He received his undergraduate degree in political science from Truman State University and a Master of Public Affairs-Public Policy degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia where he published two papers on Missouri tax credits.
